A Delhi court has recommended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the probe into a $235 million cyber heist involving WazirX, one of India’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. The theft, which occurred on July 18, 2024, targeted multi-signature wallets holding customer funds, raising suspicions of an international syndicate’s involvement.

WazirX, operated by Zanmai Labs Pvt. Ltd, promptly reported the incident to Delhi Police’s IFSO unit. The scale of the breach—approximately ₹2,000 crore in stolen digital assets—has escalated the case to national significance, with authorities examining potential cross-border connections.
